Virginia Beach Maternity Photographer | Corey + Sydney

I shot Corey and Sydney’s wedding what feels like forever ago… so I was super excited when they asked me to be their Virginia Beach Maternity Photographer. They’re the coolest and I knew they would be the best parents. We started at the Cavalier Hotel, headed through the ViBe Creative District, and ended with a few on the beach…. because when you drive down to VB from Richmond… you should take a few on the beach.

I actually really love shooting maternity portraits. I don’t get the tap that often… but I’d REALLY love to shoot more of them… this way. I just happen to think that you don’t have to do all that much different than regular portraits… which for some reason… doesn’t feel like what most people think they should be. I take the exact same approach as I would to an engagement session or any other couples’ session… except sometimes I’ll probably make you guys touch your belly. It’s still documenting your love… and your personalities… and your relationship… and it’s all on the brink of it changing. It’s a pretty special time in your relationship and your lives and I think it should be real and happy and celebrated… and it doesn’t have to be overly-posed or awkawrd or forced if you don’t want it to be. I think your kid would be happy someday to look back on photos and see their parents laughing and being the cool-as-shit humans you are. If you’re looking for a Virginia Beach Maternity Photographer… and you want something a little more relaxed and that feels like you… give me a shout!

Alternative Charlottesville Wedding Photographer | Keith and Bridget | Lewis Catherine House Wedding

Lewis Catherine House | Afton, Virginia | Alternative Charlottesville Wedding Photographer

I’m not even sure where to start with this one. Bridget and Keith live in Hampton Roads but wanted to have a mountain wedding.
They found the Lewis Catherine House on Airbnb and carted a bunch of rad vendors from the 757 up to Afton, Virginia. Since I live in Virginia Beach, but don’t shoot here very often, it was great to finally work with some of my favorite friendors again. AND BRIDGET’S DRESS! Seriously, I gasped and might have done some sort of weird jig when I saw it. It’s literally my embroidered, colorful, sparrow-covered dream of a gown. The entire day was SUPER relaxed, SUPER laid-back, and just full of fun.

Boathouse at Rocketts Landing Wedding Photographer | Hannah + Travis | Richmond Wedding Photographer

Boathouse at Rocketts Landing Wedding Photographer | Richmond, Virginia

Hannah and Travis had a Boathouse at Rocketts Landing wedding.
While they live in DC, where we shot their engagement session, they actually got married in Richmond because they fell in love with the venue when they found it. I can’t argue with them on that point.
I’m always a sucker for an industrial location… and give me water and a cityscape backdrop and you can’t get much better.

It was super windy and a little rainy… but the weather held off and they got to get married outside next to the river.
They wanted a focus on documentary wedding photography… so I made sure to try and capture lots of images of little moments…
like the guys enjoying a drink at Stone before the wedding… or their guests watching the Capitals playoff game and Travis swinging a playoff towel around on the dance floor.
(For the record… I’ll never argue with getting to watch my Caps play WHILE I’m working a wedding.)
Thanks for trusting me with your memories and allowing me to be your Rocketts Landing Wedding Photographer.

Tony + Caroline | Creative DC Engagement Session

Tony + Caroline: Engaged | Lifestyle Engagement Session | Creative DC Engagement Session

I always jump at the chance for a creative DC engagement session.
So what if it’s a little rainy? Let’s take a walk around your neighborhood.
Let’s get coffee at your favorite spot.
Let’s show off your house and why you love your neighborhood.

We started Caroline and Tony’s Engagement Session off in their home.
We just hung out on their couch and played a few ditties on the piano…
walked around near their home and scoped out some of their favorite mural spots…
grabbed a cup of coffee and finished up on their bikes.
(Because they LOVE their bikes.)

Engagement sessions don’t have to be over-thought-out or complicated.
You. Your Person. In your places.
Done and done.

Hampton Roads Marketing Photographer | Slover Library | Norfolk, VA

I love being from Virginia Beach. I love Norfolk. I love being a Hampton Roads Marketing Photographer and getting to meet and photograph people who are really making a difference in our little piece of the world.
And I’m obsessed with seeing all of the rad changes that have been happening in our little area.
I love all of the arts districts and the focusing on bringing things back to being “local”…
and I love the pride people from here have.
This place is rad and we just want to show you how great we are.
I was super stoked to be asked to shoot this forum for AIGA last year.

Ruidoso Destination Wedding Photographer | Bonnie + Michael | New Mexico Wedding Photographer

Things I learned while being a Ruidoso Destination Wedding Photographer:
1. You should always bring a winter coat to New Mexico. It snowed in Ruidoso the night before the wedding and I had to buy a very expensive North Face jacket at a tourist Ski Shop because all I had with me was one lightweight long sleeve shirt.
2. Flying into the tiny Roswell airport and spending the night there was the coolest.
3. New Mexico is the best of all worlds… mountains and trees and snow… and the desert with crazy sinkhole lakes.
4. I didn’t know very much about New Mexico.
5. I would go back and shoot weddings in the area one zillion times. It’s beautiful. (Someone hire me to be a Enchanted Vine Barn Wedding Photographer, please and thank you.)

Bonnie and Michael asked me to be their Ruidoso Destination Wedding Photographer. Having frequented Ruidoso for ski trips they decided it was where they wanted to get married and the location they wanted to bring all of their family and friends together. They chose Sanctuary on the River, which recently closed under new private-residence owners, as the venue, and tied it all together describing their wedding as “romantic country”. Despite it pouring rain through the entire ceremony… we did get a little peek of sunshine during portraits… and the cool temperatures kept everyone from sweating too much during the dance party.

Alyssa and John Douglas: Married | Riven Rock Ranch Wedding Photographer | Texas Hill Country Wedding | Creative San Antonio Wedding Photographer

Alyssa and John Douglas | Creative Texas Wedding Photographer | Riven Rock Ranch Wedding

I freaking love Texas… and anytime I get an inquiry for Texas, I pretty much fist pump at my desk. I would be stoked getting to be a Texas Wedding Photographer all of the time… because some of my all-time favorite weddings have happened to have been Texas weddings.
This time I got to fly to San Antonio and shoot Alyssa and John Douglas’s wedding at Riven Rock Ranch in the Texas Hill Country.
And with my pal, Vicki Thayer of Joyous 442 behind the wedding planning and the INSANELY gorgeous florals by Copper and Birch it definitely held up and surpassed all of my expectations.
