King Family Vineyards Wedding Photographer | Liz and Shawn

Have you ever been a part of a moment that feels like a movie? That thing where time stops and it feels surreal and it seems like nothing else could possibly be happening at the same time in other parts of the world?  THAT was Liz and Shawn‘s ceremony where I was a King Family Vineyards Wedding Photographer. It rained. Not a little. Not a drizzle. But not quite a down pour. Just a solid, unyielding rain. It began right before the processional and let up right as the ceremony ended… but here’s the thing: Not a single person flinched. No one moved. There were no whispers or wondering what to do. There was no one getting up and running for the awning. Everyone sat motionless, listening to their perfect vows, wiping away tears, and watching these two amazing people get married. Shawn and Liz gazed at each other as if nothing was happening and you could tell exactly how meant for each other they are. Their guests moved on to cocktail hour and the raging dance party hardly even noticing they had been drenched. Everyone celebrated. Everyone ate and drank and danced the night away. It’s definitely my favorite ceremony moment of all time.  It was romantic and special and unforgettable and just goes to prove that things don’t always work out the way you plan them… and sometimes it turns into something even better.

Seven Springs Wedding Photographer | Lauren and Geoff

I literally could not ask for more being a Seven Springs Wedding Photographer, than I got at Geoff and Lauren‘s fall wedding.
The Hive Wedding Collective pulled out all the stops and with the help of Rhea at Photosynthesis with killer florals… their wedding was a sunset-colored rager and I am super stoked to have been a part of it. Geoff loved the historic parts of Seven Springs and Lauren loved the outside feeling… so it was the perfect spot for their wedding.
In southern tradition, they buried a bottle upside down to help hold off the rain… and it seemed like it worked… because the entire day it felt like it might start raining… but it never did. We had perfect light the entire time… and the sun peeked out right at the end of their ceremony. The whole day was so good… and I had a hard time picking favorites for the blog… so here are probably way too many photos.
Someone bring me back to Seven Springs ASAP.

Richmond Maternity Photographer | Kathryn and Andrew

Kathryn and Andrew are past wedding clients of mine. I always get stoked for my people when they start families… and even more excited when they contact me to be their Richmond Maternity Photographer. These guys actually live up near DC, but Kathryn went to school at VCU and loves Richmond, so they took the opportunity to spend the night at the Graduate Hotel and have a little getaway before their little dude came around. They brought a few props… but my favorites… like always… are just the ones where they look super happy and it’s just a couple… with a little bit of extra belly. It was a little rainy… and a whole lot windy… but we managed to get a lot of happy walking around the area and hitting up the rooftop bar. Thanks for letting me be your DC Wedding Photographer and your Richmond Maternity Photographer, guys!

Charlottesville Winery Wedding Photographer | Steven and Courtney

Charlottesville has so many great wedding venues. Wineries. Farms. Historical locations. And I always love being a Charlottesville Winery Wedding Photographer. Courtney and Steven said “I do” among the rolling mountains of Charlottesville with the help of Colleen from CCS Events. They are the easiest, happiest, most in love people to photograph so this post is full of happy laughs and moments and I couldn’t love these images more.

Amazing shoes I wanted to steal. A perfect first look. A little drizzle between the first look and the ceremony with perfect timing.
The JMU Duke Dog. AND late night Taco Bell. All of it was perfect.

Washington DC Wedding Photographer | Caroline and Tony

Tony and Caroline wanted a fun, dance-party-to-end-all-dance-party, laid back DC Wedding… and I think they nailed it. I knew it was going to be a blast when I shot their engagement session… and their wedding did not disappoint. As a Washington DC Wedding Photographer, there are a few places that I’m obsessed with. The Line Hotel is one of them… so I was stoked when I found out it’s where Tony and Caroline were getting ready. There are so many awesome spots. The terrace off of the suite. The front steps. And for these bike-loving cool kids… there just happened to be a perfectly colored to match their outfits bike shop across the street. And its within walking distance to their venue… the Josephine Parks Butler Center. They encouraged their guests to wear bright colors and outfits they wanted to wear again. Ball gown? YES. That suit you bought for that party? YES. Whatever was in your closet you wanted to wear again… this was your chance… and I LOVE that. The entire day was based on only doing what made them happy and making sure their guests were happy… and it was perfect.

Norfolk Virginia Engagement Session Photographer | Fawnne and JoWawn

I’m always excited when I get to be a Norfolk Virginia Engagement Session Photographer. It’s like a twenty minute drive from my house. And I LOVE Norfolk. A lot.
Fawnne and JoWawn are no exception. (You MIGHT recognize Fawnne from family photos I took a long time ago.) They’re fun and the best and when Fawnne sent me photos she liked, I knew we could make it all happen in the different parts of Downtown Norfolk. Owning Salon Noa in Virginia Beach she is pretty immersed in the wedding and event industy and knew what she was looking for. I think they came out pretty great!

Their wedding was actually supposed to be happening this weekend at The Venue at Cahoon Plantation with Morlina Events in Chesapeake … but thanks to the dang Corona Virus, it’s officially being postponed. Can’t wait to celebrate, whenever the time comes!

Kilmarnock Wedding Photographer | Claire and Paul

Pick the hottest day of the summer.
In Virginia. Where it’s humid. On the water. And very opposite of the California weather they were used to.
That’s how Claire and Paul said I do and I got to be their Kilmarnock Wedding Photographer.
They celebrated with their closest family and friends at a family home and it was perfect.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden Wedding Photographer | Bryn and Baird | RVA Wedding Photographer

It only took 13 years of shooting, but I finally got to be a Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden Wedding Photographer. I’ve pretty much shot everywhere in Richmond but I had never actually shot my own wedding at the Bloemendaal House until this awesome wedding last year.
Bryn and Baird were surrounded by their family and friends, and with Colleen at CCS Events behind the wheel, this wedding was one for the books.
We had amazing light. The garden was beautiful and the colors were a nice change of pace from all of the blush in the wedding market right now.
